The following is a blog I’ve prepared for the Social Brothers LLC Social Media Consulting Firm.  I am proud to gradually work more and more with them in social media management.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to read this and letting me share a bit about myself and my qualifications to better serve and collaborate with you in the realm of social media.

In addition to serving as a social media manager for Social Brothers LLC, I’m a Denver native, film school graduate, master’s candidate in journalism/media studies, self-employed social media specialist, husband, and father to an amazing five year-old.

I feel privileged to hale from the Mile High City and am very happy to, again, be a resident after a fifteen year absence. I’ve spent most of the past fifteen years in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a two year stint in Southern California during that time. I have a bachelor’s degree in film, and have completed all coursework and my thesis prospectus towards a master’s degree in journalism/media studies. All of my studies took place at UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas).

My graduate thesis work examines mobile Facebook communications and how users communicate with images. My thesis research serves as the foundation for my current work as a social media specialist. I wanted to apply my knowledge of mobile social networks towards working with business owners and helping them engage with clients and increase their online exposure. I have spent the last year and a half doing this work while self-employed, and am very excited to expand my services while joining the team at Social Brothers LLC.

Essentially, Social Brothers LLC has accomplished what I set out to do for myself months ago, thus being able to work with them is a dream come true. I am able to continue collaborating with individuals and business owners to expand their online presence while also getting the chance to expand my own skills with true social media professionals such as Social Brothers LLC.

As I continue to learn and grow with Social Bothers LLC, I feel that a few of my own crafts will benefit their team in the process. I feel my strengths are in blog writing and creatively managing Facebook accounts, and am eager to expand these traits with more experience.

Blog writing is something I really enjoy doing and it continues to feel more comfortable each time I do it. I enjoy gathering research and organizing it to tell a story. My film background and courses taken in graduate screenwriting have taught me the importance of storytelling and engaging the audience with characters and story line. I feel some of the same rules that apply to cinematic storytelling also apply to blog writing. A blog can tell a story of one’s business and how their goods and services benefit individuals on a personal level. Blogs don’t have to be just promotional, they are best suited to communicate with an online audience by telling a genuine story.

Facebook account management is another craft I continue to fine tune. My graduate thesis work taught me that there are four major variables of Facebook use, including: Being social; Providing information; Diversion; and Surveillance. I continue to find different ways to manage accounts while keeping these four variables in mind. Navigating a social network, like Facebook, should include the intent to be social with others, or provide information, or provide some fun and diversion, or provide all at once. While performing these items, one should also consider the surveillance factor. In other words, the surveillance factor is the idea that your profile history, picture gallery, etc. may be viewed by an online audience at any time, therefore be aware of what your profile may look like to others.

Often, when the mentioned four variables are considered during Facebook use, the results show more engagement and exposure with the platform. I enjoy the creative challenge of finding different ways to communicate with different clientele bases and socializing with them in various ways. I feel there are no textbook rules as to how one should use social networks, as each profile can be as different as the individuals who manage them.

I hope this blog helps you to gain a little bit more knowledge about myself and my role with Social Brothers LLC. I look forward to getting to know each of you, your business, and your clients in the near future. I am very fortunate to be a part of the Social Brothers LLC family, and I hope you will also become as fortunate.
